A West Vancouver resident called police Wednesday, reporting that the family dog had became suddenly and unexpectedly ill during a walk on Sunday, March 25th in forested areas near Keith Road. and Willow Creek Road in West Vancouver.
Police were advised the dog had suddenly collapsed and was taken for emergency veterinary treatment.
The owner was subsequently informed blood testing had found the drug Phencyclidine or PCP. The dog was successfully treated and is now recovering at home.

West Vancouver Police are continuing to investigate. There is no direct indication at this point of exactly where, when or even how the dog may have come into contact with Phencyclidine.
The dog owner, who has asked not to be publicly identified, has advised police the dog was not noticed ingesting anything or doing anything unusual prior to becoming ill.
Extensive checks of the area where the dog was walked have not located anything of note.
