The new westbound on-ramp and eastbound off-ramp are open to traffic as part of the Mountain Highway Interchange project.
For a short period, however, the westbound on-ramp will only be open to traffic travelling south on Mountain Highway.
The westbound on-ramp will open to northbound traffic once the New Mountain Highway overpass is complete in December 2019, the province said.
“The new ramps will provide North Shore residents with better connectivity to and from Highway 1, and better distribute traffic among the three Lower Lynn interchanges,” according to the province
The Mountain Highway project is part of the Highway 1 Lower Lynn Improvement project.
The project, province says, will significantly shorten commute times and improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists on the North Shore.
“Improvements will address safety, queuing and delays and will help to improve travel times along Highway 1 and the Lower Lynn Interchanges.”
