The largest ice-skating rink in Metro Vancouver is now open in The Shipyards in North Vancouver.
The 12,000 sq. ft. outdoor skate plaza will be open for the winter months and includes a looped skating trail to complement the open rink area.
It will be open from 12 pm to 7 pm daily until spring of 2020. It will, however, be closed on Christmas Day.
The covered 12,000 sq ft venue will offer skate rentals for $7, free helmets and skate aides. Those who have their own skates can skate for free.

Supervision is not provided at any time, the city said. Helmets are mandatory for all kids 12 and under and are available free of charge until supplies last.
No food or drink is permitted. The skate plaza will close periodically for ice cleaning.
Underground parking, new public washrooms, ample seating and viewing areas and heritage elements and features are other inviting features of The Shipyards, an ambitious project the city has been working on for the past few years.
In 2016, the City of North Vancouver chose the Quay Property Management to develop The Shipyards-Lot 5, which provides public amenities such as water splash and outdoor skating rink, along with 84,000 square feet of commercial spaces featuring restaurants, cafes, retail, services and a boutique hotel.
